Welcome to the Tone-Color Alchemy project!

Tone Color Alchemy has been active now for three years. Our goal is to provide members with a functional perspective on the relationship between Western hermetic philosophy and the Western Musical Tradition. We have conducted several rounds of classes and hosted 45+ private members.
The format of the online study groups is simple. We congregate in an online forum space, which is password protected and accessible to members only. This generates a small crucible for participants to conduct their research and share discoveries amongst peers. We have found that this approach, when combined with a weekly lesson plan, produces excellent results for the dedicated student.
Lessons are provided in PDF format and posted weekly, upon the student’s completion of the previous assignment. Each week requires 7-10 hours of work from members, during which they are expected to read the lesson, complete the studies and meditation, and post their reflections at their alchemical laboratory. Feedback from the instructor is provided in response to each lesson, enacting a mirroring process of co-discovery and creative processing.
April 20th, 2011 is the launch date for the Beginner and Advanced Tone Color Alchemy correspondence courses. The beginner’s course is designed to help students thoroughly explore the imagery and hidden correspondences of the Major Arcana, so that they may progress to the advanced stage and begin tracking the musical implications of the tarot studies. The advanced course involves a study of Tonal Harmony (Western Music Theory) and begins to track the relationship between card imagery and principles of musical harmony.
Lessons are posted once per week at the member’s forum. Members are provided with activities, documents and images to study. Each lesson has a short essay homework assignment, allowing the student to demonstrate their understanding. Detailed feedback is provided to the student’s forum posts, depending on quality of the member’s efforts.

The Beginner and Advanced Tone Color Alchemy courses do not necessarily require any additional materials for study, though we do recommend having access to a musical instrument of some kind. You are also free to purchase the BOTA deck and color it in as we move through the lessons.
Registration Details
All classes are six weeks long and cost $275.00. Any additional costs of currency transfer (as in the case of international payments through paypal) are not included in the course fees. All proceeds from the tone color alchemy classes go to fund the development of Onederland Studios in Portland, Oregon, a communal studio space for ritual magic work and meditation.
